Focuses on interdisciplinary research in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, with in-depth exchanges in the areas of computer science and biomedical fields
Asia University's AI team recently visited Kyushu, Japan, to facilitate an exchange with Fukuoka University. During the visit, Fukuoka University’s Director of International Affairs, Li Ming-Zhe, and Professor Masashi Suetsugu visited Asia University (AU) and signed a Memorandum of Academic Cooperation (MOA), marking the beginning of a new stage in their collaboration. The focus of the cooperation will be on interdisciplinary research in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), with in-depth exchanges in computer science and biomedical fields.
Ou, Jenho, Director of International Affairs at AU, stated that last year, AU’s delegation visited Kyushu, Japan, where they engaged in academic exchanges with Fukuoka University of Technology, Miyazaki University, and Fukuoka University, discussing dual-degree programs and joint research projects. During their visit to Fukuoka University, AU representatives met with Li Ming-Zhe, Director of International Affairs, and Hiroshi Tatsumi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, to explore collaboration on semiconductor programs. Fukuoka University shared their experience of launching a semiconductor curriculum in 2023, which focuses on manufacturing technologies, with support from professors at Kyushu University.
Following this initial exchange, a month later, Fukuoka University’s Li Ming-Zhe and Professor Masashi Suetsugu visited AU to tour the College of Information and Electrical Engineering and relevant research facilities. They engaged in discussions with Professor Ruo-Mei Hu, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Science, and Professor Xian-Ru Ke, Department of Computer Science, to explore collaboration in biomedical, computer science, and intelligent technology fields, with a particular focus on semiconductors and AI. Both Li and Suetsugu expressed high praise for AU’s research achievements in these areas.
Li Ming-Zhe, Director of International Affairs at Fukuoka University, remarked that AU’s research strength offers broad opportunities for collaboration. This cooperation will promote deeper engagement between the two universities in academic research and student exchange, providing students with more opportunities for international learning and broadening their global perspectives.
Professor Masashi Suetsugu expressed that Fukuoka University has strong capabilities in technological innovation and academic research, and is eager to expand future collaboration with AU in fields such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and smart cities.
Eugen Hsiao emphasized that AU will continue to promote international collaboration, focusing on technological innovation and educational exchanges, and providing students with more opportunities for cross-national learning to enhance their global competitiveness.
