Asia University Ranks 12th Nationally in THE Impact Rankings, 5th Among Private Universities, and 3rd Among Non-Medical Private Institutions
The Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the results of the 2025 Impact Rankings, with Asia University (AU) advancing to the 301–400 range globally. Nationally, AU ranks 12th overall, 5th among private universities, and 3rd among non-medical private institutions. This marks the seventh consecutive year AU has been listed in the rankings, with a notable improvement from last year’s 401–600 range.
In particular, AU excelled in four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land), ranking within the global top 101–200 in each. These results reflect the university’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai noted that since its founding 24 years ago, Asia University has remained focused on environmental concerns, guided by its core values of health, care, innovation, and excellence. Sustainable development is one of the university’s central strategies, and AU has implemented concrete actions to align with the UN’s SDGs across teaching, research, and community engagement. This recognition further affirms AU’s progress and continued commitment to becoming a world-class sustainable university.
Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Dr. Hsiu-Fen Tsai highlighted that AU’s outstanding performance in SDG6, SDG8, SDG12, and SDG15 demonstrates the university’s strength and dedication in sustainability. Through systematic planning and cross-departmental collaboration, AU has integrated sustainability strategies into its administrative practices—such as energy saving and green procurement—as well as into its academic curricula and research efforts. AU has established a comprehensive governance structure for sustainability, promoting school-wide participation and co-creation between faculty and students to maximize its social and environmental impact.
Dean of Student Affairs and Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer Dr. Shao-Liang Chang added that AU actively engages students and faculty in sustainability initiatives. These include the “Sustainable Talent Development Lecture Series,” the “Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Awards,” the “Green Campus Competition,” and the “SDGs Learning Month & USR Exhibition.” AU also offers a unique program in Sustainable Development and Management and places a strong emphasis on fostering sustainability literacy. By integrating these themes into student affairs and general education, AU empowers young people to engage with both local and global challenges and to become action-driven, responsible global citizens.

Asia University ranked 12th among all universities in Taiwan, 5th among private universities, and 3rd among non-medical private universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2025 Impact Rankings.
