Through academic exchange and talent cultivation, both institutions aim to inject new momentum into the industry’s growth.

On March 13, a delegation from Vietnam’s FPT University, led by President Dr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, visited Asia University (AU) to strengthen cooperation in semiconductor education. During the visit, AU President Jeffry J.P Tsai and Dr. Nguyen Khac Thanh signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on joint talent cultivation in semiconductor design and smart manufacturing programs, marking a significant step toward advancing Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

To welcome the delegation, AU hosted a vibrant ceremony at Rodin Square, featuring a traditional lion dance, performances by indigenous Taiwanese students, and a Vietnamese traditional dance presented by Vietnamese students. The FPT University delegation also included Vice President Dr. Nguyen Kim Anh and FPT Corporation Vice Chairman Dr. Hoang Viet Ha, demonstrating the strong commitment from both academia and industry in fostering next-generation semiconductor talent.

President Jeffry J.P Tsai of Asia University (AU) delivered a speech, highlighting AU’s commitment to promoting international educational cooperation and its focus on strengthening New Southbound Policy exchanges. He mentioned that last August, he led a team to visit Vietnam and engaged in discussions with FPT University. Supported by the Vietnamese tech giant FPT Group, FPT University has established itself as a leader in digital transformation and is actively involved in the research and application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things. President Tsai emphasized that AU’s collaboration with FPT University will focus on semiconductor development. Through academic exchanges and talent cultivation, both institutions aim to inject new momentum into the industry and significantly enhance talent development in Vietnam’s semiconductor sector.

Dr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, President of FPT University, remarked that Vietnam's rapid economic growth has created a huge demand for semiconductor talent. He expressed his excitement about partnering with AU, combining Taiwan's rich semiconductor experience to train more outstanding professionals for Vietnam.

After the official signing of the MOA, the FPT University delegation toured Asia University’s STEM Semiconductor Teaching and Industry Research Center, the Smart Semiconductor Design and Sustainable Manufacturing Research Center, the AMD Logic and Computing Laboratory, and the Semiconductor Component Simulation Laboratory. The Vietnamese delegation expressed high appreciation for AU’s semiconductor facilities and research achievements, noting that these would bring new opportunities for semiconductor talent development in Vietnam. By joining forces, AU and FPT University aim to promote internationalization in education and industry innovation, cultivating more top-tier talents with international competitiveness for both Taiwan and Vietnam.
