Focusing on Academic Exchange, Curriculum Collaboration, and Industry Internships to Jointly Cultivate AI Semiconductor and Industry Talent
Following the recent signing of a semiconductor talent development agreement, Hoang Viet Ha, vice chairman of FPT Corporation, led a delegation to revisit Asia University (AU). This visit focused on academic exchange, curriculum collaboration, and industry internships, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with AU President Chinchang Tsai to implement training programs in semiconductor, finance, and business sectors.
The signing ceremony opened with two Vietnamese students from AU, dressed in traditional Vietnamese attire, performing a Vietnamese folk song and presenting flowers as a gesture of welcome. President Chinchang Tsai expressed his pleasure at meeting Vice Chairman Hoang Viet Ha and the delegation again within such a short period, emphasizing that this reflects the strong foundation of cooperation between the two universities. He noted that last month’s semiconductor talent development agreement was a milestone in their partnership, and this new agreement expands collaboration into computer science, business management, and finance—establishing new opportunities in teaching and research.
President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai highlighted that AU’s College of Management is accredited by AACSB, one of the world’s top three business school evaluation standards. Additionally, AU has been selected by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education for the EMI (English-Medium Instruction) Program, further demonstrating its commitment to an international learning environment. The university has also hosted 15 editions of the Nobel Laureate Forum, providing students with valuable opportunities to engage with world-renowned scholars, encouraging them to pursue further academic growth and develop critical and holistic thinking skills.
Through deeper collaboration with FPT University, President Tsai believes that both institutions can establish a strong academic and research network that benefits faculty and students alike. This partnership will enhance industry cooperation, internships, and employment opportunities, while also expanding student exchanges and fostering cross-cultural understanding between Taiwan and Vietnam.
Hoang Viet Ha, vice chairman of Vietnam’s FPT Corporation, has visited Asia University multiple times and expressed a strong sense of familiarity with the institution. During the MOA signing ceremony, he even personally recognized AU faculty members in attendance. He noted that, in addition to those he had previously met, new professors from the College of Management were also present, symbolizing an expansion of collaboration beyond semiconductors into finance and business.
He highlighted that since signing the semiconductor talent development agreement with AU on January 13—just over a month ago—both sides have been working rapidly to implement the partnership despite the busy Lunar New Year period. FPT University has already established offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang to support the initiative. Additionally, two related events have been held on campus, where many parents and students expressed strong interest in studying at AU. Hoang Viet Ha emphasized the importance of accelerating cooperation to enable more Vietnamese students to pursue education at Asia University.
After President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai and Vice Chairman Hoang Viet Ha completed the signing ceremony, the FPT delegation visited Asia University’s Learning Management System (LMS). The system was introduced by Dean Ming-Hui Chen of the College of Management, who explained how it is utilized for teaching and student management. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on curriculum alignment and corporate internship programs, with a particular focus on internships and employment opportunities at multinational corporations. Through this collaboration, AU aims to help FPT students secure internships at Taiwanese companies while also providing AU students with internship opportunities at FPT-affiliated enterprises in Vietnam.
Additionally, FPT University has been actively developing AI and semiconductor-related courses in recent years. This visit placed special emphasis on how both institutions can jointly design industry-oriented training programs. During a meeting with the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, discussions covered potential initiatives such as dual-degree programs, faculty exchange, and research collaboration. Both sides expressed hope that by integrating academic and industry resources, they can cultivate globally competitive semiconductor talent.
