To enhance high school students’ understanding of the technology industry, more than one hundred first-year students from Taichung Municipal Chang-Yi Senior High School visited the Bachelor’s Program in Semiconductor Technology at Asia University on March 10. The university arranged a series of activities, including a guided tour of a themed classroom, laboratory visits, and demonstrations of experimental activities, allowing students to gain a closer look at semiconductor-related knowledge and applications.

The visit began with an introduction in the “Semiconductor Themed Classroom,” where instructors explained the basic concepts of the semiconductor industry and its areas of application. Through a scenario-based learning environment and visual explanations, students were able to better understand the role of semiconductors in modern electronic products.

The students then toured the semiconductor laboratories, where they observed the operation of various testing and analytical instruments. Through the on-site tour, students were able to connect the physics and electronics concepts they learned in class with real experimental environments, gaining a clearer understanding of how these principles are applied in the technology industry.

To further deepen students’ learning experience, three themed activities were arranged during the visit, with students rotating through stations in small groups. The first activity, a breadboard circuit experiment, demonstrated how basic electronic components function within a circuit through simple circuit assembly and demonstrations. The second activity introduced transparent conductive films, explaining their properties and applications in products such as touch panels and display technologies. The final session focused on the semiconductor manufacturing process, where instructors explained key steps including wafer fabrication, photolithography, and etching, giving students an overview of how semiconductor chips are produced.

According to the Bachelor’s Program in Semiconductor Technology at Asia University, the high school stage is an important period for students to explore their academic interests and future directions. Through campus visits and academic exchange activities, the program hopes to provide students with opportunities to experience university laboratory environments and learn more about technology-related fields.

Teachers and students from Chang-Yi Senior High School noted that the visit helped them gain a more concrete understanding of semiconductor experiments and industrial applications, while also broadening their perspectives on technology-related fields. The event concluded successfully with active discussion and interaction among the participating students.
