Asia University has achieved another milestone in industry-academia collaboration. Prof. Jung-Jie Huang, Vice President of Asia University and Director of the Bachelor Program in Semiconductor, together with CALIN Technology Co., Ltd., carried out the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) industry-academia research project “Ultrasonic Spray Coating of Hydrophilic Thin Films on Automotive Lens Glass.” At the NSTC Department of Engineering and Technologies’ 2026 (ROC Year 115) Industry-Academia Collaboration Project Results Presentation and Performance Review held on November 2, the project received the “Outstanding Award” in the Chemical Materials for Daily Life field, highlighting Asia University’s achievements in advanced thin-film materials, precision coating processes, and collaborative research and development.

The results presentation was held at the Wuri conference center in Taichung, bringing together collaborative teams from universities and industry to showcase their research and development outcomes for evaluation by domain experts. The Asia University team won the judges’ recognition for its innovative technology and potential for industrial application, underscoring not only the academic and technical value of the research but also the importance of industry-academia collaboration in driving technological innovation.

The project focuses on developing functional surface thin films for automotive optical components. Centered on ultrasonic spray coating, the team studied hydrophilic thin-film materials and process conditions, and analyzed and verified the films’ surface characteristics, optical properties, and application feasibility. By fine-tuning the precision coating process and material properties, the project aims to enhance the surface functionality of automotive lens glass and offer new technical directions for automotive optical components and the wider precision optics industry.
