A Warm Welcome

The Bachelor Program of Semiconductor at Asia University held its first-ever freshman welcome barbecue, creating the very first shared memory for the program community. More than a casual meal, this gathering for the inaugural cohort carried a clear message: you belong here. For students still finding their footing on campus, that sense of being welcomed and looked after matters deeply.

As evening fell, the trees around the campus lawn glowed with yellow blossoms under the lights. Faculty and students gathered and greeted one another, and freshmen who arrived a little shy and curious soon relaxed amid the warm welcome from seniors and teachers. The air carried both the aroma of the grill and the sound of new acquaintances introducing themselves — easy, friendly, and full of life.

Grilling Together

Around barbecue tables lined with pink stools, students gathered by the grills, preparing ingredients, turning skewers, and sharing food with one another. Conversations flowed from hometowns and hobbies to courses and hopes for university life, and the distance of first meetings quickly faded in shared laughter. For many freshmen, this was their first long, pressure-free chat with classmates after enrollment — and that made it especially meaningful.

As the aroma of the grill drifted across the lawn, some tended the fire while others passed plates and served food. This natural teamwork made the evening lively and heartwarming, giving freshmen a true sense that the program feels like home. Building human connections before the full load of professional courses begins is often the steadiest start to university life.

Faculty and Students Together

Program faculty joined in as well, moving from table to table to chat with students, share food, and ask how the freshmen were settling in. Talking about both study and everyday life, they built a closer and more trusting bond. When faculty–student relationships extend beyond the classroom, students are more willing to seek help when academic or personal challenges arise later.

Toward the end of the evening, everyone came together for a group photo with big victory signs, and faculty members happily posed with a cheerful cartoon cutout. Every smiling photo captured a treasured memory of this warm night and turned the idea of a Semiconductor Program family from a slogan into something people can feel.
